Vinegar is a product of fermentation which is a process in which sugars in a food are broken down by bacteria and yeast. In the first stage of fermentation, the sugars are turned into alcohol. Then, if the alcohol ferments further, you get vinegar. The word comes from the French, meaning “sour wine.” While vinegar can be made from all sorts of things — like many fruits, vegetables, and grains — apple cider vinegar comes from pulverized apples. The main ingredient of apple cider vinegar, or any vinegar, is acetic acid. However, vinegars also have other acids, vitamins, mineral salts, and amino acids.

This king of vinegars has been touted to be an excellent remedy for weight loss. Dissolve two teaspoons of this magic potion in about 16 fluid ounces of water. Keep sipping on this water throughout the day. Apple cider vinegar works by kick starting your metabolism and burning calories throughout the day. Make sure you take a few sips of this potion throughout the day for best results.

Evening Primrose Oil

Not only is this excellent for the health of your skin but evening primrose oil can also be used to burn additional calories. Have a capsule of evening primrose oil just before you hit the bed at night. You must do some form of cardio vascular exercise before you pop the tablet in your mouth.

Green Tea

This powerful cup of antioxidants is said to help in weight loss especially when you are supplementing good eating habits and exercise. Have two cups of green tea every day.

You can add a wee bit of honey for sweetness but it is recommended that you have the tea absolutely plain for best results. You can combine this with 3 sessions of any exercise that you enjoy doing. People who follow this routine to the hilt shed about 2.5 pounds in a fortnight.

Coffee

Coffee is another beverage that works as an appetite suppressant thus encouraging you to eat less throughout the day. Have this beverage judiciously. Do not consume more than 2-3 cups of coffee a day. You are better off having coffee without sugar. Extra sugar will negate the positive effects of coffee and will only add to the amount of calories that you are consuming.

Fruit Smoothies to the Rescue

If you are not big on eating breakfast or are too rushed to have a proper one, consider having a fruit smoothie instead. For the recipe, take any favourite fruit like apples, bananas, mango or chikoo. Cut the fruit into small pieces and blend them in the grinder with a cup of yoghurt and some honey. This yummy concoction is full of the goodness of fibre, carbs, vitamins, minerals, protein and fatty acids. Once you have a tall glass of your favourite fruit smoothie, you will be ready to face the gruelling day ahead without succumbing to unhealthy food cravings.

Exercise

Just following the above remedies is not enough. You also need to get in some amount of physical exertion if you want to see some difference on the weighing scale. Incorporate at least 40 minutes of exercise 5 times a week for best results. There are a number of exercises that you can choose from. You can walk, run, bike or use the elliptical trainer at your gym.

Combine the cardio routine with about half an hour of weight training to see a rapid change in your muscle tone and overall look. If you have not exercised in a while, make sure you speak to the doctor first and ask him/her whether it is safe to do so. Exercise will release feel good hormones and also boost your metabolism thus encouraging your body to burn more calories even while it is in a resting state.
